Irreplaceable Sources of Light

I wanted to take a moment to share some things that lighten my heart.  This first photo shows what is left of a prayer flag that my oldest angel and her room-mate brought home for me from their trip to Tibet.  It hangs gently in our backyard and is a tangible reminder that we are constantly being surrounded and blessed by the prayers of those who love and care about us.  Though it is exposed and often battered by the elements, its symbolism cannot be destroyed.

This is our sweet lap cat, Harley.  When I found him, he was homeless and injured.  He had been attacked by a hungry coyote, but obviously lived to tell about it.  His journey into our family and his forever home, was a very difficult one, but he is one of the happiest, most easy going little guys that I have ever met.  He has managed solitude over adversity.

This is a picture which was taken this past weekend of my angels and my dad.  They call him "Pop-Pop" because that is the name that our oldest angel gave him as soon as she could speak.  Angel daughter number three(wearing the blue shirt which matches her eyes) celebrated her sixteenth birthday on the first day of Spring.  She is a sparkly ray of light, and like Spring, she breezed into our lives full of hope and brightness.(Her middle name is Hope.)  Other than the deep connection which I share with my wonderful  husband, these five individuals fill my life with more laughter and light than I could have ever believed possible.
This is Max.  He is another one of our rescue kitties.  He has a true understanding of the word "relax".  When we adopted him, he adopted AD3, and he rarely leaves her side.
And finally, in honor of AD3's sixteenth birthday, I just wanted to remind her, and my other angels, of this one last thought.  You and your Dad will always be blissful reminders of how incredibly full my life is.  Sometimes, I just have to stop in my tracks to hug you because you are my true loves.  And there is not anything which can lighten my heart in quite the same way that you can...

My dear friend Debbie,
I love this post and the beautiful pictures you have accompanied with it. Wonderful thoughts and images. I love the prayer flag, such a treasure. Your angels are gorgeous...such long legs on AD3..wow, I am envious of those legs.

You are truly a blessed woman, and doubly blessed to recognize it, cherish it, and love it.

Your friend,
Alison

Hi Deb~I, too, agree with the previous three commenters. I just have to add, though, that your scenery is incredible. I haven't had a chance yet to go back to the beginning of your story so I'm not sure--but the scenery in these pix? Is that where you LIVE? Because, if so, do the four Angel Girls need an honorary auntie who visits often??? HAHA! I am a huge "water person." I am the very happiest when I can sit and look out on a large body of water...pure balm for my soul! Sort of like your lovely words in your posts :). Beautiful surroundings for a beautiful family...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and pics, Deb. You have such a beautiful, sharing soul and many benefit because, despite your health, you take the time to share your words that inspire and strengthen so many, especially me. Happy birthday to your dear AD3. Michael goes to either Ft. Sill or Ft. Benning on Nov. 2 for his training before he could go to Iraq-the jury's still out but my heart is prepared and ready. He's always been on loan to me from God and I am blessed. Take care.

I have been feeling very stressed all morning with worry over John's health. But now, after reading your blog, I feel more at peace.

That's what you do for me. No need for me to EVER take meds...I just need a healthy dose of Deb and I'm ready to conquer yet another medical issue.

Thanks for being a "ray of serenity" in my life.

Hallie :)

Good Morning, Dear Deb~I just wanted to stop by and say I hope you're having a great weekend. I just read Hallie's comment saying you are her "ray of serenity." To be honest, I think that sums it up perfectly! You are that to me, too...and that is REALLY something :)! Gentle hugs & love...

Hey, Deb! GOOD MONDAY MORNING :)! I'm so glad you had a good--albeit busy--weekend.

I just had to tell you--thank you very much for the positive thoughts during my "experience" on Friday. Boy, did I feel silly when it turned out to be so much easier than I thought. Still glad it's over, though!

Reading your comment this morning just made my day. You might start getting thank-you notes from other people who have to deal with me. HAHA!

Have a beautiful week, my beautiful friend!

Gentle hugs and love...
