Heart Stones or Remaining Open to Love

As I prepare to close my eyes on another busy day, I take a few minutes to look through a bowl of heart stones which I have collected during my travels along the beach.  Each one represents a journey along the shoreline and each one reminds me of a moment of mindfulness in which something caught my eye and I bent down to examine it.  Whether it was a walk with my wonderful husband, a family outing with my Angel Daughters or a meditative walk alone, each stone stands for something different and unique.  Each one caused me to pause.  Each one allowed me to focus on how nature is able sculpt ordinary objects into works of absolute beauty.  Each one reminded me to give pause and to offer a silent prayer for those who own a piece of my heart.
For no matter how hard life may become.  No matter how our souls can be battered and bruised by the difficulties and disappointments.  No matter how many empty spaces still need to be filled within our spirits, the heart can remain open to love as long as we allow it to.
Life may shape or mold us many different times throughout the journey, but only we can determine whether to love or wither.  The choice is up to us and although it is not always easy, and it does not always end up the way that it should, may you always choose love.
Every person you meet, every heart that connects with yours, has had to contend with heartache and difficulty and pain.  But if you are lucky, the one thing that remains a constant is your ability to love...and to be loved.

I keep heart stones too!!!! Nice to know I'm not the only one. I only have a few left as I give them to those who matter to me, those who hold a piece of my heart.

...Amen Angel Deb. Aaaamen... :o)

...Love your lil' collection there too. I also do that, stop and pick up lil' things that catch my eye & heart while I'm out walking the dogs thru the woods and such. I once found two acorns that were laying on the ground and they were still attached together, I brought them home and told my husband that they reminded me of us (my husband & I). He looked at me as if a tree fell on my head or somethin' while I was out walkin'...lol... He failed to see it and still does...(*sigh* ;o)

...I love coming here - you're so good for me and all of us actually. You're like an Angel...a blessing of sorts. Yeah that's it, a blessing. You're a blessing. :o)

...Happy Saturday & blessings Angel Family...

These stones are so amazing. How many years of collecting do they represent? "Choose Love" is such an ongoing theme in your blog, which is why each visit is so uplifting. I also wanted to say I love that Inspired Room blog. That was so nice of her to feature you!

There aren't many things we can choose in life but being able to choose love and choose how we react to things are important. I have never seen heart stones before. I think I need to move to California! Thanks for such an inspiring post. Love ya.

What a nice post. I also collect Heart Stones and collected them collaboratively from a group like you all and put them together into a meditative little book titled: Heart Stones.

You can see a bit of it on my website at http://www.josieiselin.com/Books/HeartsStones.htm

I hope you might find it cause when you run out of stones to give away, its the next best thing.

cheers, Josie Iselin

Loved your heart pictures- I too collect hearts. My kids have started to bring them to me too. Some of them a little more abstract than hearts that usually catch my eye, but I'll take them any way I get them. :)

Each one of your words is a heart stone I keep very close. THANK YOU. Again, love how the change in font really brings the post to life. WHEN you do your book, you should have it printed that way. xxoo

Dear Deb,
Even in your challenges you no only see the beauty and love and miracle of your life, you always guide me toward my own. Your loving, thoughtful words are ministering to me, they echo the theme of the silent whispers I keep hearing. Yes, your words "But if you are lucky, the one thing that remains a constant is your ability to love...and to be loved." -- are a sign for me, of what I am to cultivate: "opening my heart (more) to love. To give it, receive it and believe in it, and experience the miracle of love; it's transformational, healing, revealing power. Now I know that cultivating my own "heart opening" is my main focus for, starting now and through 2012...at least. I thank you for being that sacred reflection.

Sending you right now, refreshing, soothing radiant love...to sooth you mind, body and spirit. Love always.. Cheryl
